Review workshop of Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA of ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur  


 

The concluding review meeting of Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA of ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur was held on 25th, May 2021 through virtual mode. Dr V.K. Singh, Director-ICAR-CRIDA, Dr S.K. Singh, Director-ICAR-ATARI-Jodhpur, Prof. M.C. Varshneya, ZMC Chairman, Directors of Extension Education of SKRAU- Bikaner, AU - Jodhpur, AU- Kota, CCSHAU- Hisar, Heads of NICRA KVKs of the concluded districts and also the new districts and KVK staff involved in NICRA project, Project Coordinators at ICAR-CRIDA, Heads of Divisions of ICAR-CRIDA, PI of NICRA, Co-PIs of TDC attended the workshop. Dr V.K. Singh, Director-ICAR-CRIDA is the chief guest for the programme.

 

Dr P.P. Rohilla, welcomed the chief guest, chairman, DEEs from Haryana and Rajasthan and the participants. He gave brief introduction on salient achievements of TDC in KVKs in ATARI zone. The TDC programme is operational in 7 districts out of which only 5 districts are continuing in next phase and 10 new districts will be joining the program in the next phase. Dr. S.K. Singh in his remarks emphasized on climate resilient interventions that can enhance resilience. Interventions under NICRA should minimize the impacts of climate variability. He stressed the need for scaling up of resilient technologies and the strategies to be adopted by KVKs. Prof. M.C. Varshneya appreciated the good work done by the TDC programme for the benefit of farmers to cope with the climate variability. He also emphasized on scaling of resilient technologies. Dr J.V.N.S. Prasad, gave brief overview of the programme in the zone and suggested KVKs on various approaches to upscale the technologies. Directors of extension also shared their experiences in NICRA villages and impact of the interventions in villages mainly about custom hiring center.

 

Dr. V.K. Singh, Director-CRIDA in his address emphasised on household approach for demonstrating resilient technologies. He stressed the need for involving more villages in the programme. Animal based systems needs to be focused in the zone as they contribute significantly in the arid regions. He has stressed the need for convergence with the developmental programs for scaling up of proven technologies in the climate resilient villages. He suggested KVK heads to refine the action plan based on suggestions and discussion in the meeting focusing the constraints, resources available and implementing the resilient technologies for different households.

 

During the meeting, 7 districts presented consolidated report for 2011-20 and 5 districts presented technical programme for next phase of NICRA-TDC. Several suggestions were made on action plan for the year 2021-22.  Dr. P.P. Rohilla proposed vote of thanks.
