Dr. T. Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG, ICAR and Dr. H. Rahman, DDG (Animal Science) inaugurates NICRA Field Day at ICAR-CSWRI, Avikanagar

A ‘Field Day’ for the farmers of Malpura Tehsil was organised on 22nd January, 2017. About 100 farmers participated in the programme. Dr. T. Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG, ICAR inaugurated the NICRA Field Day and Dr. H. Rahman, DDG (Animal Science) graced the occasion.  The programme was aimed at transferring technical knowhow on sheep and goat rearing under climate change scenario. Farmers were taken to different facilities established under NICRA at ICAR-Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Avikanagar, viz., Cactus Field, Senjana Field, Herbal Garden, Forage Demonstration Unit, Calf rearing during winter, thermal jacket made up of coarse wool for lambs, Umbrella-type portable lamb incubator for lamb to protect from night chill, silage making in plastic bags and drums, complete feed block made up of locally available alternate feed resources for sheep feeding, and different shelters for rearing sheep and goats. Climate Chamber facility established under NICRA Project was also inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. T. Mohapatra, DG, ICAR and Technical Bulletin “Cactus: Ensuring Round The Year Feed Supply” was released. The program was organized by Dr. S.M.K. Naqvi, Director, CSWRI and Dr. A. Sahoo, PI, NICRA and other project scientists, Technical officers and Research Workers were present on this occasion.
