International Women’s Day celebrated at the NICRA Village Amoni, Madhya Pradesh

Krishak Mahila Sanghosti was organised on the occasion of International women’s day on 8th March, 2017 at Village Amoni, Vidisha, Bhopal. The programme was conducted and organized successfully under NICRA Project by Dr. Sangeeta Lenka, Co-PI. The participants were farm women, housewives, girls, anganwadi and health workers from village Amoni and Prempura. Also all women staff of ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science participated in the programme with great fervour and gaiety. The programme was graced by Dr. A. K. Patra (Director, IISS), Shrimati Reena Patra, Shri R. K. Giri (Administrative officer, IISS) and guests Shrimati S K Bharati (Scientist, Home science, KVK). The programme started with brief introduction, importance and history of celebrating International women’s day by Dr. K. Bharati, Chairman, Women Cell. Shrimati S K Bharati, Scientist, Home science, KVK highlighted the importance of post harvest processing of fruits and vegetables. She explained participants in-detail the on soya based products, Amla candy, pickle making etc. Mrs. Reena Patra emphasized on the importance of women empowerment, women rights and development in all spheres of life. Dr. Sangeeta Lenka, Co-Principal Investigator, NICRA project sensitized participants on the role of farm women in climate change adaptation and mitigation. Dr. A. K. Patra, Director, IISS addressed the gathering on gender equality and women empowerment. Mr. R. K. Giri, AO, emphasised on girl education and socio economic impact. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Mrs. Babita Tiwari.
