Annual Review and Action Plan Workshop of NICRA-TDC of Odisha state held at ICAR-ATARI Kolkata


 

One day annual review workshop of KVKs involved in the Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA in the state of Odisha was held at ICAR-ATARI-Kolkata on 12th July 2017.

 

The workshop was chaired by Dr S.S.Singh, Director-ICAR-ATARI-Kolkata. Dr JVNS Prasad, Co-PI, TDC of NICRA, ICAR-CRIDA spoke about the climatic vulnerabilities being addressed by the KVKs in the state, the resilient practices identified, the impact of these practices in the NICRA and also the adjoining villages and about scaling up of the proven resilient practices in the NICRA villages and the approach to be adopted in the next phase of NICRA. Dr S.S.Singh emphasised the need for focusing the interventions based on the climatic vulnerability. He emphasised the need for adopting cropping systems approach for addressing the climatic vulnerability and stressed the need for enhancing the productivity and profitability depending on the bio physical environment and resource availability in the village. He informed about the recently released pulse varieties suitable for the state which can tolerate various biotic and abiotic stresses. He stressed the need for documenting the success stories and the need for dissemination of these practices by involving the line departments and policy makers for the larger spread of these technologies in the domain districts of the TDC of NICRA.

 

The meeting was attended by all the participating KVKs in the NICRA programme in the state of Odisha. The meeting was attended by Dr.S.K.Mondal, Dr K.S.Das, Dr. A. Haldar, Principal Scientists, ATARI-Kolkata. During the day KVKs presented the significant achievements of the NICRA programme in the last 6 years and the action plan for the year 2017-18. The action pans were discussed in detail, suggestions were made and action points were identified.
