NICRA Zonal Review and Progress workshop for KVKs of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamilnadu held at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad on July 13, 2017

The Zonal workshop of the Technology Demonstration Component of National Innovations on Climate Resilient Agriculture was held at ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad on 13nth July, 2017. The workshop was chaired by Dr Y.G.Prasad, Director, ICAR-ATARI Hyderabad and Dr. K.Sammi Reddy, Director ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad. The workshop was attended by Dr K.Raja Reddy, Director of Extension, NAGRAU, Dr. K.Anand Singh, Director of Extension, PJTSAU, Dr A,Satyanarayana, Former Director Extension, ANGRAU.
The workshop started with welcome address by Dr. K.Rajender Reddy, PI-NICRA, ICAR-ATARI Kolkata. In his welcome address he presented the significant achievements and also the spread of the resilient practices demonstrated by the KVKs of the zone. Dr. K.Sammi Reddy, Director-CRIDA spoke about the technology demonstration component of NICRA, the climatic vulnerabilities being addressed in the zone, the salient achievements so far and also the proposed programme for the next three years. He emphasised the need for the spread of the resilient practices beyond NICRA villages and emphasised the need for facilitation for the spread of the technologies. Dr. Anand Singh spoke about the significant achievements of the KVKs in the state of Telangana and the impact of the programme. Dr JVNS Prasad spoke about the focus of the programme in the next three years, the process to be adopted and the approach for scaling up of the resilient practices. He also spoke about the interventions which need to be focused in the next phase. Dr Y.G.Prasad, Director-ATARI spoke the approach to be adopted in the next phase of NICRA and the process to be adopted such as the delineation of the village in to farming situations, resource mapping, collection of baseline information about the new village, need for spread of interventions which can double the farm incomes.

During the day the KVKs involved in the NICRA programme made presentations about the significant achievements of the programme so far and also the action plan for the next year. The action plans were discussed in length and suggestions were made. During the day, Dr A. Satyanarayana made presentation about the doubling farm incomes and the need for diversification for increasing the farm income.

The workshop ended with vote of thanks proposed by Dr K.Dattatri, Principal Scientist, ICAR-ATARI Hyderabad.
